Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra 2010 Summer Workshop
The Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra presents its 4th Annual Summer Workshop under the auspices of
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

From orchestras and choir, to guest speakers and enrichment classes, the MYCO Summer Workshop
offers eight days of intensive training for talented musicians ages 11 to 18.
Daily sessions include chamber group coachings with our
distinguished faculty members, as well as
orchestra rehearsals. Other workshop classes include music theory, choir, improvisation, and
accompanying classes for piano students. Public performances
featuring the chamber groups, orchestras, and choir are presented at the end of the workshop.
The Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra places a strong emphasis on its learning environment. Students
enjoy a challenging yet positive atmosphere, with high performance standards. Musicianship
skills are developed through peer work and mutual learning. The MYCO Summer Workshop is open to
string, piano and woodwind students.

Workshop sessions are held in the music buildings of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Sessions
are scheduled each day from 9am-4pm, including Saturday. Students are also expected to
attend the Student Concerts, June 17-19, at 4:00 pm.
The Faculty Concert will be presented during the week. MYCO students will receive one
complimentary ticket, and a MYCO t-shirt.
Entrance into MYCO programs is by audition only.
MYCO is suited for students who are moderately advanced (ages 11-14) and advanced (ages 14-18). Prospective
students should contact the MYCO Registrar before registering.

Registration fee: $50 per family, non-refundable (postmarked by deadline).
Late registration fee: $100, if space available.
Summer Workshop tuition: $450 per student.
Tuition payment deadline: May 15, 2010 (postmarked)
Late tuition fee: $100 per student. No tuition refunds after May 15, 2010.
The Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra believes that tuition costs should not stand in the way of
musical education and opportunity. Some merit-based scholarships are available. Contact
the MYCO Registrar for more information.
The Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra is a non-profit pre-professional program focusing on
orchestral and chamber music performance. Founded in 2005, MYCO is proud to offer an outstanding
learning environment for its students. In 2009 & 2010, student chamber groups from the MYCO
Honors Chamber Program performed for the Tokyo and Orion string quartets, and MYCO guest clinicians
included violinist Sherry Kloss and cellist Shmuel Magen.
