The Mallarmé Youth Chamber Orchestra will be hosting its second summer chamber music workshop in the Hill Hall music building of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, June 11-June 20,  9am-4pm (weekdays). 

This summer we will be offering an intensive chamber music program – 8 days of chamber music coaching with outstanding faculty.  On the program:

·        Chamber coaching (2 groups daily for each participant)

·        Chamber orchestra

·        Chorus

·        Music theory & ear training 

·        Master classes

·        Faculty concert - Saturday, June 14, 2008, 3:00 PM. Person Recital Hall, UNC Chapel Hill ($10)

·        Student final concert

The workshop is open to approximately 50 participants – string players and a limited number of piano and woodwind players – ages 10-18, at the intermediate to advanced level.

Application fee: $50 – non-refundable – due by March 31, $75 after March 31.

Tuition: $550 due by May 25

Scholarships will be available based on need (please indicate on the registration form).

 No refunds after May 25. MYCO members receive a 10% tuition discount.

Tuition includes daily snacks and drinks,  however participants will bring their own lunch.

Audition

No audition is required for current and former MYCO members or for last year’s workshop participants.  New applicants should schedule an informal audition of 10 minutes playing music of their choice with the artistic director (Yoram_Youngerman@mycomusic.org) or Tel. (919) 401-0404. .  (Audition by tape will also be acceptable.)  The audition is for the purpose of chamber group placement.
